This week research scientist and Slurry Management specialist from around the globe descended on Wexford for Ramiran – Manure Management Conference. This was Ireland’s first year to have this bi-annual event. Teagasc did an excellent job hosting the event which involved three days of lectures in Whites Hotel and practical sessions on Teagasc Johnstown Castle Farm.
Researchers presented papers from Europe, Australasia, Asia and US. The events core focus was on reducing Green House Gas Emissions, maximising the fertiliser value of organic manures and providing sustainable and profitable farming systems.
Abbey Machinery were delighted to be part of the event. “We are very proud of the long relationship we have with Teagasc and pioneering many environmentally sensitive ways of applying organic manures. There was such a wealth of knowledge shared at the event from Slurry storage to reduce emissions, slurry acidification to reduce ammonia volatilisation, biodiversity, sustainability programmes, pitfalls to avoid, Biogas technologies, analytical systems, disease prevention, optimum technologies to apply organic manures, just to name a few. This is an exciting time to be part of it”, remarks Michael O’Grady, Sales, Marketing & Business Development Manager.
“We had our Tri-App on display to show practical Solution to Slurry Application which helps farmers get more from Slurry”, said Mike Kinsella, Republic of Ireland Sales Manager.
