2090 Spreader: Ian Armstrong, of Terrace Farm, Cockermouth, Cumbria
Ian Armstrong runs a hill farm near Cockermouth with his mum and dad Agnes and Robin, his wife Catherine and their daughters Rachel, Kate and Lucy.
They have 80 suckler cows, mainly pure Limousins as well as 600 sheep: 350 Swaledales on the fells, going up to more than 1,400ft on Kirk Fell, and 250 Texels and mules on the inbye.
After just six months of using the Abbey 2090 side spreader, he says he’s very pleased with the machine. It performs well on rough, hilly ground and the spread pattern is excellent.
In Abbey’s side spreader range, the heavy-duty spreading chassis is anchored to the seamless rotor tube in spiral formation, allowing for the optimum spreading pattern.
“It’s a good machine,” Ian adds. “It’s bigger than old one, which means we can get the job done quicker, and it doesn’t take too much driving.”
