Abbey Launch New Slurry Management System

Preparation is at final stages for Europe’s largest outdoor Agricultural event in what will be a must attend event for farmers across the country.

This year Abbey Machinery celebrate 70 years, providing machinery solutions to the Irish Agricultural industry. There are a multitude of reasons to visit their stand with a huge array of agricultural technologies to cater for the ‘Total cow’. With the main one being the launch of their new All-Purpose Slurry Applicator – the DM Bandspreader.

The DM Bandspreader is their new 7.5m Applicator that will open up enormous opportunities for milk and meat producers with the proposed splash plate ban. This unique Applicator will revolutionise the industry as it can be retrofitted to any Slurry Tanker.

Key features include Vertically Folding Boom and individual folding ram for better control when folding out the booms. This Applicator will be mounted close to the Tanker to maximise weight transfer to the hitch. It comes fully galvanised for maximum working life. There will also be mast mounted machine options available. There are no internal hose restrictions to maximise slurry flow to the lay flat hosing. Vogelsang Exacut distributor for even delivery of slurry and easy to operate stone trap.

Also on their stand will include various Diet Feeding Technologies, Slurry Management Solutions, Manure Spreading and their NEW Slurry Management Guide!

Diet Feeding Technologies:

This includes the recently launched Tri-Auger Diet feeder, with a capacity of 33.5 cubic meter. Other sizes available in the Tri-auger range. It comes complete with tandem axle steering, two speed box, various feed-out options, 6 weigh cells for optimum weighing accuracy connected Digi-Star management feeding system. This machine works on minimal horse power (from 160HP) and is highly manoeuvrable around the farm yard. The genesis of this machine is to reduce work load on-farm as farmers scale up and want to rapidly get through the feeding task, but not to compromise on animal performance.

Along with this Diet Feeder there will be a range of other feeder models of various sizes to suit all farm types. The VF2450 is proving to be very popular among larger Irish farmers. Abbey Machinery offer a host of options to suit the individual farm. On display will be the new TMR Tracker for farmers looking to monitor feeding consistency and measure performance. In addition there will be a VF1500 and VF1250 on view as well.

Slurry Management Solutions:

There will be an array of sizes from a standard 1300 Slurry Tanker right through to 4000 recess and tandem options. Abbey Machinery also manufacture up to 6000 gallon Tri-axle Tankers.

Tri-App with CLAAS tractor

For precision slurry presentation there will be a selection of Slurry Application technologies on view, including Abbey’s very popular Tri-app and class leading Vertical Trailing Shoe. These machines present the slurry below the crop canopy right onto the soil in discrete lines that eliminate foliage contamination and maximise efficiency of getting the slurry into the root zone.

On display also will be an autofill arm, where the tanker can be loaded without having to leave the tractor Cab.

Manure Spreading:

Also on show will be their 2090 Side Spreader on 550 tyres, brakes and lights and pendular fertiliser spreader, complete with cover to protect fertiliser while in the hopper from prevailing weather conditions.

Slurry Management Guide:

Abbey Machinery introduce a new ‘Slurry Management Guide’ on how to get the most from slurry. A typical dairy cow produced 7 tons of slurry over the housing period and this can potentially save €50 worth of purchased fertiliser. This increases to 12 tons per cow on higher feed input systems. This management guide gives the latest Abbey technologies to store, transport and apply slurry so as to optimise the fertiliser value of the slurry and minimise its environmental footprint.
