National Ploughing Championships 2017

The weather certainly did not hinder numbers and enthusiasm at this years record breaking Ploughing Championships. 300,000 people took to their annual pilgrimage to attend the show.

For the duration of the show Abbey Machinery was busy with contractors, specialist milk, meat producers and mixed farmers enquiring about solutions to various issues on their farms.

It was very apparentĀ  that Slurry Management was important. Most farmers were looking to reduce Slurry spreading time (larger tankers, bigger pumps, Auto fill systems), improve spreading (Applicators) and minimise compaction. Abbey unveiled their new Slurry Management System which was well received.

There was a lot of interest in their new DM Band Spreader which can be simply connected to the rear of the Tanker (even a tanker that does not have Bracketry). It is 7.5m wide, has a Vogelsang Distributor, Layflat hosing, 40mm unrestricted pipes andĀ  is fully Galvanised.

As farmers scale up they are looking to reduce workload while improving performance. Abbey had their class leading VF3350, VF2450, VF1500 and VF1250 Feeders on Show. As farmers focus on grass quality they take out strong grass and bale it. This feed needs to be efficiently fed and that’s where Abbeys low profile chopping technology in their Feeders which chops, mixes and feeds out with minimal HP is very important.

We would like to thank everyone that took the time to visit the Abbey Stand.
